SERVICES WE SELL
Most "recyclers" say they recycle domestically and
yet most do not have the equipment to do so. Recycling,
Remarketing and Component Recovery all contain facets of
environmental protection. Our customers frequently require
customized solutions to achieve their requirements. We must always
be prepared to listen to their requirements and design the proper
solutions.
REMARKETING
Reuse –
Recycle - Dispose is the normal hierarchy of responsible electronic
waste management. Sims Recycling Solutions has experienced
electronics remarketing experts with an established list of
customers demanding large quantities of used tested functioning
computers, laptops, LCD monitors, telecommunications equipment, test
equipment and virtually any other electronics with a residual value
for reuse. This provides a value to the purchasers of this equipment
and ensures a longer life for the product. Prior to the remarketing
of any
equipment,
we assure that all data is completely and irreversibly removed and
that all equipment is fully tested functional. This
is a higher priority than any monetary recovery on the
equipment. Please also view the
DATA
SECURITY section.
RECYCLING
Sims
Recycling Solutions assures high quality environmental recycling of
end of life electronics via our domestic, ISO 14000 certified
recycling facilities. All hazardous materials such as batteries or
mercury bulbs are hand-removed to prevent leakage prior to
mechanical recycling. One hundred percent of the metals, plastic and
glass from electronics are recycled with no remnants going into
landfills. We have invested heavily in the most sophisticated
shredding and separation equipment in the industry which makes this
possible. Recovering all possible value in the commodities
significantly reduces the cost of recycling. Even a large portion of
the packaging material is recycled. By using Sims Recycling
Solutions, our customers can rest easy that their equipment is
recycled properly, in accordance with the highest industry standard
and they will never suffer any embarrassment or other repercussions
that they might by using recyclers who perform the service for
“free”. Please also view the
ENVIRONMENTAL section.
TRANSPORT
One of the
key factors in the environmental impact of electronics recycling is
the transport and associated CO2 emissions involved. As the North
American recycler with the largest number and geographical spread of
recycling facilities, Sims Recycling Solutions minimizes freight
saving both costs and CO2 emissions. Further, we use only
transporters with which we have long and trusted relationships to
assure the security of the customer’s equipment during transit. See
more Recycling Security aspects in the
DATA SECURITY
section.
CERTIFICATES OF RECYCLING / DESTRUCTION
Any company
can provide a certification that material has been properly
destroyed or recycled, but none has the ability to stand behind and
assure this certification like Sims Recycling Solutions. We can
provide the certificates by the job and related weight or by
individual serial number. Customers often use the certificates by
serial number to assure these assets have been removed from
financial, maintenance and insurance records.
The
following table is explaining some of the hazardous components that
could end up in the landfill or dumped in developing countries, unless these
electronic devices are properly recycled.
